More working with coloured lighting techniques. I'm learning that there's a fine line between lighting and face painting, and to make matters more learned I decided to try my hand at violet/indigo. As any good painter will tell you, violent tones are naturally prominent throughout dark skinned people. So what I ended up with isn't so much coloured lighting(see brown sugar) but rather cool flesh tone, which I'm cool with.
The thing about likeness pieces is that one relies on as many landmarks as possible to grab onto for recognizable caricature less portraiting. As I've done once in the past, a crop protrait proves to be 3 times more the challenge(for me anyway) then one without a facial crop. I find I could capture schwarzenegger 3 times before getting MJ's eyes to be his eyes.
lastly I went through a dozen concepts for this one, some of them are in the vid.
-I settled on the vinyl and pin motif with a reflection sketch to boot.
I was never really been the biggest fan of Jackson, however my mother was and is; I'm sure she'd like it.
